Station 04 of 06
Food Safety & Inspection
Food safety and inspection is the station that checks every pack before it leaves the line and rejects the ones that fail. It protects consumers from contaminated or short-weight product and protects the producer from recalls, complaints and legal action. The core machines are checkweighers, which weigh each pack in motion to confirm it meets the declared weight, and metal detectors, which find ferrous, non-ferrous and stainless steel contamination in product or packs. Both are usually identified as critical control points or prerequisite controls in a plant's food safety plan and must be tested and recorded on a regular schedule. Buyers look at detection sensitivity for their product, weighing accuracy at line speed, how reliably the reject device removes failed packs, fail-safe design, and the data the machine records for audits. Retailers and certification schemes often set specific requirements for inspection, so the choice of equipment is shaped by customers as well as by regulators.
